Holidays can be a day of running around in preparation for the evening festivities. But what about us breakfast lovers? Those of us who love the bright beauty of the morning, who want to sit and enjoy their coffee with something scrumptious as they take in the joy of the season. When the day is already filled with kitchen work, I don’t want to rush around the kitchen baking up a storm for breakfast. With that in mind, here are a few Holiday Brunch ideas for a beautifully yummy morning.
1. Twice Baked Cinnamon Rolls
This recipe is perfect because it can be prepped ahead days in advance. You can use store bought cinnamon rolls or make some from scratch. You start by baking your rolls, cutting them up, setting them in a pan and filling the pan with a custard. It can then be stored in the fridge overnight and popped in the oven in the morning! Then with a little orange glaze and a cup of coffee, you will be in breakfast bliss. Here is our recipe.
2. Orange Cranberry Scones
These scones are simple to make ahead as well as delightful to eat. The cranberries are full of flavor, and the oranges give it that special kick. It always surprises me how often children will come up to the case at the bakery and choose a scone. After having a bite of this buttery, flaky pastry you will understand why. As Holiday brunch ideas go, this is one of my favorites because it feels both seasonal and timeless. Here is our recipe!
3.Sausage Gravy and Biscuits
Although this recipe is not as easy to make ahead, it is very simple and worth the effort. If you are looking for something to be able to sit down at the table and really enjoy a with your immediate family, this meal always seems to achieve that. We have a great recipe for Sausage Gravy, Drop Biscuits and (to complete the table), Fried Apples.
4. French Toast Bake
This is another make ahead option. In fact, this is a favorite of ours when we know we are having overnight guests. I love make-ahead Holiday brunch ideas and this recipe is especially good because it can be done all within one Pyrex! The morning you need it, just bake it and set out the maple syrup. Here is my favorite recipe for this dish.
5. Breakfast Grazing Table
If you are going to be having family stay with you for the holiday, then a breakfast grazing table might be perfect for your situation. Especially if you may not have a table quite big enough for a full family breakfast. Grazing tables allow everyone to graze where they want and how they want. You could include a bagel bar or have toast with various jams and toppings. Or go all out and have different quiche, yogurt and granola, and fresh fruit. With a breakfast grazing table, the options are endless. Charcuterie for Large Groups is always fun:)
