Cookie Butter Cream Frosting
I’m going to walk you through how to make buttercream frosting that hardens without compromising on flavor or texture.
Course Dessert
Cuisine American
- 2 sticks salted butter softened to room temperature
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2-4 tablespoons milk or heavy cream for a richer texture
Start by placing your room temperature butter into the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment. Beat on medium-high for about 3-5 minutes until the butter turns light and fluffy.
Gradually add in the confectioners' sugar, starting on low speed to avoid sugar clouds. Once the icing sugar begins to combine, increase the speed and beat for another 3-5 minutes.
Now, stir in the vanilla extract and milk (or heavy cream) to reach a spreadable consistency. It shouldn’t be too thick to spread, but not so runny that it drips off your cookies.
If you want to add some color, divide the frosting into bowls and stir in gel food coloring. Now you’re ready to pipe your beautiful designs onto your cookies!
